Sleep monitoring needs work
April 30, 2016: I just updated the Fitbit app to 2.22. Ill change the review as I notice improvements. I havent been using the sleep monitoring. Ill try it again and see if its improved.
Jan. 4, 2016 — Sometimes sync doesnt. I synched the app with the Fitbit and looked at my steps for the last three days. They were wrong. I exited the app back to the phone, came back in and synched again. This time the steps looked right. Scared me!
Im disappointed that it takes 2 to 3 minutes to sync. Why so long?
Update: The sync has disappeared. It may be running in the background now; it had to be the primary app to sync before.
Im disappointed in the inaccuracy of the sleep monitoring. Its good with the start and end times, but it will say you were awake for 30 minutes in the middle of the night when you werent. Also, I take naps of about 30 minutes. It usually misses these completely. So I have my own spreadsheet with my sleep times and adjust what the Fitbit says to what I think really happened. The ultimate problem is that it really doesnt know when Im sleeping or awake.
Also, the battery indicator is limited. It only has three indications: Full, half full and nearly dead. Since I can only charge it at home, its annoying to get a notification away from home that its just about dead considering the last time I checked it, it indicated half full. When I plug it in, it shows the battery charge with about 20 levels. Why cant the app show 20 levels?
It has three heart rate zones already set up: Peak, Cardio and Fat Burn. But with Fat Burn set just 8 beats per minute higher than my resting heart rate, I wanted to reset it. Theres a Custom Zone, but that apparently doesnt allow you to change the other zones.
